The Role Of Sirtuins In Anti-Aging

Anti-age pill? Well, not just yet! Research just published to-day says that they have found some ways the body can activate its own built-in anti- age mechanisms. It is well known that animals on very low calorie diets live longer. So, we just need to eat less? Well, that would help as we eat far too much anyway.

The new research is focusing on a a group of enzymes called sirtuins. Ever heard of them ?
Probably not but we are going to hear lots more about these in the future. These enzymes are
controlled by genes called SIRT1 and SIRT2. These genes help to make cells last longer and they are basically little nodules full of energy which will rejuvenate our cells which will help us live longer and stay healthy - very important! Researchers are going to target these genes in making drugs which will probably stave off old age and typical illnesses such as heart disease, cancer and osteoporosis. If they can develop a pill which will increase our levels of SIRT1,2,3 &4 thereby slowing down aging and also preventing the diseases mentioned above.

But for the moment , the best way to stay young is to eat fruit and vegetables, get exercise every day, use a sunscreen and look after minor health problems when they affect you and above all maintain close ties with family and friends.

The link below will give you a great start in finding the right superfoods to help you live a very long time
